vLegal is a specialist recruitment agency operating under Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003, and takes your privacy seriously.

To be effective on your behalf it is necessary to collect, process and store some personal data including, but not limited to, your name, address, private and corporate email address, phone number, financial information, compliance documentation verifying your qualifications and experience and your right to work in the UK, curriculum vitae and photograph, links to your professional profiles available in the public domain e.g. LinkedIn, Twitter, or corporate website, and other relevant information from your curriculum vitae.

This information will have been provided by you sharing your CV, and personal contact through correspondence, phone calls and meetings.

In accordance with the GDPR Regulations 2018, vLegal has a legitimate business interest to hold this information, specifically to assess candidates’ potential suitability for current and future vacancies with clients (recruiting law firms and organisations), and to introduce candidates for permanent professional contracts in accordance with clients’ requirements. The exchange of personal data is a fundamental, essential part of this process.

vLegal will only share your data with clients with your express permission in the event that you wish to apply for a vacancy. Clients are international so this may result in your data being shared with contacts outside the UK or EU. If this is the case, it will be made clear at the time.

vLegal will not sell your data to any third parties.

vLegal has in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal information from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed: all hardware (including mobile devices) is password protected, with the capability to wipe all data remotely should a device be lost or stolen; regular virus checking and secure backups; automatic locking of idle devices; a clear desk policy; and minimal use of hard copy data.

vLegal has a legal duty to retain accurate data and only to retain personal data for as long as is needed for legitimate business interests and for as long as you are happy. It is your right to ensure your data is accurate and complete, or to request to remove your data from our records at any time by contacting Claire Venables (clairevenables@vlegal.co.uk). vLegal will email you annually to confirm the continuing holding of your data and to remind you of your right to have it removed.
